19th Amendment Passes Congress, Sent to States | Carrie Chapman Catt

Learn how the National American Woman Suffrage Association (led by Carrie Chapman Catt), with President Wilson’s help, got the 19th Amendment ratified in this video adapted from Iowa PBS’s documentary Carrie Chapman Catt: Warrior for Women. President Woodrow Wilson changed his stance on women’s voting rights. On May 21, 1919, the measure passed the U.S. House 304 to 89. Two weeks later on June 4, the U.S. Senate passed the 19th Amendment by 56 to 25. It then was sent to the states for ratification.
