Admixture Testing: How can your DNA provide insights into your ancestry? | Finding Your Roots

In this clip of Finding Your Roots, country music stars Roseanne Cash and Clint Black learn about their ancestry through DNA testing. Both discover they have ancestors from Sub-Saharan Africa who had not been identified through research of historical documents. DNA ancestry testing comes in several varieties, which provide different ways for people to explore their ancestry. This lesson explores Admixture Testing, which analyzes a person’s DNA to estimate where their ancestors came from. Students will learn how this type of ancestry testing works and also why the results from this type of testing might change.
