Advocate for the Environment with Sawyer | Kid Heroes

In this episode of Kid Heroes: Small Actions, Big Change, we travel to Bozeman, Montana, to meet Sawyer. She is a student who stood up for something she cared about and helped save a tree on her school playground. When the school made plans to build a new shed for PE equipment, the tree was going to be cut down. It was one of the only shady spots where kids could rest and play. Sawyer and her friends knew they had to do something. They talked to their classmates and gathered support from around the school. They brought their concerns to the principal and, because of their hard work, the school found a new place for the shed.

This story reminds us that young voices can make a big difference. With help from her trusted allies (dad, friends, and principal), Sawyer shows how speaking up for things that matter to us can lead to real change. The tree becomes a hero, too, providing shade, animal shelter, and a living science lesson.
