Freestyle aerial skiing is a breath-taking event. Competitors launch off of massive jumps, flipping and twisting up to 60 feet into the air, before landing smoothly on the downslope. In this video, Eric Bergoust, Olympic gold-medalist in aerials and Montana native, explains how a rudimentary understanding of physics gave him a leg-up over other competitors during his skiing career. Through his interviews for the film, we can identify two interesting physics properties that led to his success and are now essential to freestyle aerial technique.
