Bear Safety | On Grizzly Ground

In this lesson, students will learn about guidelines used in the Greater Yellowstone area to help humans and bears coexist safely without either coming to harm. In this video, the students observe ways that humans can stay safe in an area where bears are present. Then, the students create their own bear safety posters, which advocate for safe practices to help people stay safe in “bear country.”

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Students will be able to accurately describe at least three ways humans can stay safe when in an area with bears.
• Students will be able to appropriately share information with a broader audience through the creation of visual art.
• Students will understand how to create a piece of visual art following the guidelines and expectations set in place by their teacher.
