Booker T. Washington Invites Carver to Tuskegee

Booker T. Washington was determined to make Tuskegee a leading educational institution in the South. He recognized that he needed a Black man with an advanced degree in agriculture to head up his department of agriculture. George Washington Carver was his clear choice.
