Before the invention of the telegraph, letters were the only means of communication with friends and relatives. Eight years into his marriage, Elbert Hubbard began a relationship with Alice Moore that was fueled and maintained through letter-writing. Students will explore communication through written letters and their evolution to modern-day formats. They will examine the use of letters as primary source historical documents and as vehicles for personal expression.
