State climatologists across the Midwest note tornadoes, derechos, and severe storms are changing. They bring stronger, longer-lasting wind gusts, heavier rains, and record amounts of precipitation. This unpredictability is making it more difficult for meteorologists to predict how storms will move across the countryside.
