Connecting School and Home to Support New Readers | Let’s Learn

Learning happens everywhere, all the time, for children ages three to seven. This video focuses on early literacy pedagogy anchored in reading science. It features Katie Pace Miles, Ph.D., an associate professor at Brooklyn College, CUNY, and a noted early literacy curriculum developer, author, and speaker. Joining Dr. Miles is Isabel Simmons, a former Universal Literacy Reading Coach with the NYC Public Schools, and Rebekah Nelson, an Instructional Specialist in early childhood education and literacy with the NYC Public Schools. It discusses ways to use video as part of your in-class instruction and how to use free resources to help parents and caregivers extend literacy learning beyond the classroom.
