Cove Haven Cemetery | Kentucky Studies

The Cove Haven Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky was founded in 1907 by 14 formerly enslaved men. Many of the burials at Cove Haven are from the generation that came of age after Emancipation and their children. Recent years have seen a growing movement to preserve the nation’s historic Black cemeteries.
