Creativity Coming to Life: The Art of Costume Construction | STEAM on Stage & Screen

Learn about the art of costume design and careers in the industry from artists Brian Blythe and Deanna Frieman. In these videos, host Stephond Brunson interviews these artists as they explore:

• The many careers in a costume design shop as well as how those careers use math and science.
• How a “Costume Bible” helps document all of the information a costumer needs, and why they need so much reference information.
• The many steps involved in making the costumes for the hit Broadway musical Six.
• The importance of creative arts to the economy and advice for getting into careers in the theater.

Students may then create their own original character and plan a costume design, preparing to explain why each element of the costume helps define their character and how the costume would be constructed.
