Diane | FIRSTHAND: Peacekeepers

Learn about the role of peacekeepers in a community through the story of Diane, whose support of her daughter’s friends turned into an organization to support all of the youth in her community. Diane has been keeping the peace in Roseland for the past 20 years by offering positive alternatives to gangs and drugs. She runs her grassroots organization Kids Off the Block from her living room. It’s her calling, she says, to help local youth by ‟all means necessary” — offering them food, clothing, and activities — necessities they have been denied amid the disinvestment in their neighborhood.
