Equality and Equity | Together We Can

In this video, two friends sing about the difference between equality and equity and describe how both are needed for fairness. The song explains that equality means everyone is treated the same, and equity means everyone gets what they need to reach their goal. For example, giving children the same size of sneakers may be equal. Giving each child sneakers that are their size is equity.  

Use this video to explore the difference between these two concepts and deepen understanding of why both are necessary for fairness. Then, invite children to express and expand on their ideas with the printable “Ways We Can Show Fairness” activity page.
