Fair Housing | Hope in the Struggle

In the late 1950s, Josie Johnson collaborated with activists to investigate housing discrimination in the Twin Cities. This work lead Johnson and allies to lobby the Minnesota legislature to pass the Fair Housing Act. Minnesota’s Fair Housing Act became law in 1961, seven years before the federal government passed fair housing legislation for the nation.
