Feeding Bears | On Grizzly Ground

In this lesson, students will learn how bears in the Yellowstone area were historically able to find food at “dump sites” located around the park. However, as scientific knowledge advanced, the park rangers realized that feeding the bears was not the best practice, and removed the dump sites. Using the information provided in the Wyoming PBS video, as well as additional research, students will create an argumentative essay in response to the following prompt: “Why was it better for the bears when the park stopped feeding them at the dump sites?”
