Finding World War Two: The Tuskegee Airmen

Meet Ben Mack-Jackson, a high school student who has found a calling in interviewing World War II veterans, and follow him as he interviews two Tuskegee Airmen who live in his community. Their oral histories reveal how these men, who were members of the only group of African-American combat pilots during World War II, persevered in the face of racism within the United States armed forces and were able to make a valuable contribution to the war effort.

The film closes with Mack-Jackson’s reflections on how the connection he made with these men affects his life today, and the narrator’s revelation that as a young man he also recorded the oral histories of World War II veterans and interviewed a white bomber crewman who was saved by the Tuskegee Airmen.
