Fossil Butte National Monument | Wyoming Chronicle

Fossil Butte National Monument is located near Kemmerer, Wyoming. It is one of the lesser-known national monuments in the state but a favorite research area for scientists. Fossil Butte National Monument reveals what tropical life may have looked like 55 million years ago. Students will view short videos to understand how the fossils at the monument are so well preserved, what role the ecosystem had in the area, and what species have been found at the monument.
