Individuals as Tools of Change | Becoming Thurgood: America’s Social Architect

​Examine the concepts of change, fairness and equality through the life of Thurgood Marshall, who fought to advance the political, economic, and social rights of African Americans in the 20th century. Cecilia Marshall, granddaughter of Thurgood Marshall, invites students to consider how one person can make a difference as she reflects on Marshall’s early career and his impact as a civil rights lawyer with the NAACP and the Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF).

About the Author
