Interstate State Parks: WI and MN | Prairie Mosaic Shorts

Learn about the first collaborative state parks in US history, and how the Ice Age and the Civilian Conservation Corps made them what they are today. The Interstate Parks of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin and Taylors Falls, Minnesota have been working together since 1900 to preserve and celebrate their unique geology. Glacial melt and runoff created unique features like glacial potholes and breathtaking basalt cliffs, which have been attracting tourists since at least the nineteenth century. In the 1930s, the New Deal federal Civilian Conservation Corps worked in both camps to provide the amenities for visitors that are still in use today.
