Julia Perry was a composer, but that doesn’t begin to describe the range of her musical talent. Renowned in Italy in the 1950s as a composer and conductor, she also was a trained vocalist and violinist.

Her work was ahead of its time. A neoclassicist, she also did experimental pieces and was known for her use of dissonance, 

Julia Perry was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1924, the fourth of five girls. The Perrys moved to Akron, Ohio, during the Great Depression when Julia was 10 years old.
