Kentucky State Capitol: History | Kentucky Field Trips

The Kentucky State Capitol is home to the three branches of state government: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is led by the governor and includes state agencies that provide services to taxpayers, like Transportation and Health and Family Services. The legislative branch is made up of the Senate, with 38 members, and the House of Representatives, with 100 members. The highest court in the judicial branch is the Kentucky Supreme Court, whose seven judges hear cases in the Capitol building.
