In this episode of Subcultured, Josef Lorenzo meets women graffiti writers from across New York City. We are introduced to the graffiti crew called GW2 (Girls Write Too) as they work on a wall in the Bronx. We also hear from graffiti legends who have been in the scene for decades: Sade, Lady Pink, and Jerms. Sade and Lady Pink talk about the origins of graffiti as an artistic form of rebellion started by teenagers in Philadelphia and New York City. Graffiti itself is closely tied to hip-hop culture, which began in the Bronx during the 1970s.
