Magnificent Migration | American Arctic

Explore the magnificent migration of the Porcupine caribou herd in these videos from NATURE’s American Arctic. Witness the longest land mammal migration on Earth as the caribou embark on their 1500 mile journey to (and from) their summer breeding grounds in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In this resource, students will watch and collect notes on several clips detailing the herd’s migration through the varied Alaskan Landscapes all while overcoming harsh conditions and the looming threat of predators. Students will then engage in a short mapping activity to visualize the herd’s epic migration route.
