Mann Gulch Fire | Higgins Ridge

The Mann Gulch fire occurred in August 1949 in the Helena National Forest in Montana, USA. It was a tragic event that resulted in the loss of 13 of the 15 smokejumpers who fought against it. Since this devastating event, smokejumpers have tried to learn from the mistakes made by men who did not survive in order to prevent more loss of life.
