Dive into the Mormon experience and its complex relationship with religious freedom. This clip traces the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, highlighting the persecution faced by early Mormons, including violence and forced migrations. 

In this activity, students will analyze the relationship between religious groups and the state and federal government in the United States. Students will discuss the concept of religious freedom using the historical context of the Mormon migration and settlement, and will engage in a Socratic seminar or class debate to critically evaluate the concept of religious freedom as it relates to the Mormon experience.
