Morning Meetings with Molly | MOLLY OF DENALI®

Use these videos and activities from the PBS KIDS series MOLLY OF DENALI ® to conduct 15- to 20-minute morning meetings. These morning meetings encourage students to actively engage with a variety of functional texts, such as maps, checklists, calendars, pamphlets, and schedules, to prepare for an upcoming class field trip.

In these 3-minute “Molly of Denali: The Big Gathering” animated shorts, Molly and her community prepare for a special trip to “The Big Gathering,” where people from all over Alaska gather every year to make plans and support each other. Molly uses literacy skills, such as reading maps, creating checklists, consulting calendars, making pamphlets, and reviewing schedules to help get ready for the trip. By using these tools, Molly learns how a trip is planned — and contributes to her family and community as well.
