In this lesson, Farmer Nick and Plant teach you why bugs are actually one of Plant’s best friends and why it’s important to protect them… even though Farmer Nick doesn’t like them as much as Plant does!

Plant’s favorite kinds of bugs are pollinators which move pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators are important because a lot of plants can’t produce their seeds or fruit until somebody brings them pollen from another plant.

A lot of pollinators are creatures we’re normally afraid of (like bees and wasps), but it’s important to give them a second chance because they help the plants in our gardens to grow big and healthy. And if we want the healthiest garden we can possibly have, we should do something to PROTECT the pollinators!

So in today’s hands-on lesson, you’ll be building your very own Pollinator Hotel! This way, the pollinators in your garden have a safe place to stay (away from predators like frogs) while they do their important work.

For once, you won’t envy Farmer Nick’s Thyme Machine! Once the glue is dry and your Hotel is decorated to your liking, you can go ahead and put it outside.
