Poverty Point: A Prehistoric Indigenous Site in Louisiana

Explore Poverty Point, an ancient Indigenous archaeological site located in northeast Louisiana that dates back 3,500 years.  Follow Jay Dardenne, Louisiana’s former Lieutenant Governor, as he visits Poverty Point with archaeologist Dr. Diana Greenlee.  Together, they will discuss how the mounds of this site were built, examine artifacts that have been found there, discover what this site teaches us about prehistoric cultures, and learn why this site is so significant that it was named as one of only 26 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United States.
