Privacy Protections for Genetic Information: Meet GINA

This lesson was created by the Personal Genetics Education Project, and paired with a clip from The Gene.

Scientists rely on people contributing their genetic information to research databases and participating in clinical trials. This lesson invites students to explore reasons why some people participate in research and then examine a U.S. law that provides protections for research participants and others who seek to learn about their DNA.
