Students meet journalists in Michigan to learn how civility is an essential tool that needs to be taught and practiced in a diverse democracy. Using video from A Citizen’s Guide to Preserving Democracy, art projects, and writing activities, students express the challenges people face when trying to communicate civilly with those with opposing views. Students conclude by envisioning ways to increase civility in our society.
