In this lesson, Farmer Nick and Plant (or is it really Plant?) show you how to repurpose common items from your house in your gardening projects.

“Repurposing” is when you take something you’re not using, then find a whole new way to use it. For example: when T-shirts get too old to wear, you can cut them up and use them as cleaning rags (and this is much better than throwing them in a landfill).

Any kind of repurposing cuts down on waste and helps you protect the environment, but the garden is an especially good place to repurpose materials. Plants just like to grow, and they don’t care very much where they do it!

So in today’s final hands-on lesson, Farmer Nick will show you how you can combine your compost, your collected rainwater, your propagations, and other materials to build a new planter!

He makes a dinosaur planter out of a used can, but the beauty of this exercise is that you can make whatever you want… as long as you make it from repurposed materials!
