Diya Payal, a 14-year old in Dehradun, India was stunned when she learned about the loss of biodiversity that is caused by human activities. Eager to better understand the problem, she has devoted herself to understanding the impacts of industrial-scale farming on the local ecosystem, and has become an advocate for sustainable farming practices in her community. With this resource from Films BYkids, students will learn about the effects of modern industrial agriculture on biodiversity, research native plants in their area using National Wildlife Federation’s Native Plant Finder, and make a native plant “seed ball.”
