Shaker Village Singer | Kentucky Studies

Kitty Durham, music interpreter and head gardener at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, discovered that she had an ancestor who was a Shaker at the village. Her ancestor lived at Pleasant Hill throughout much of its existence. Born in 1822, Eliza “Kitty” Carpenter arrived at Pleasant Hill as a baby that same year. She remained with the Shakers until her death in 1906 at age 84.
