It’s been well documented that sports and physical activity are a vital aspect to a child’s physical and intellectual development. That very notion also holds true for children with disabilities. Participating in sports and recreation has the further benefit of promoting inclusion for kids in special education.
Due to stigma and the lack of education surrounding disability, children with disabilities are all too often denied the opportunity to participate in physical activities.
This segment is from WCNY’s Move to Include initiative, which showcases how one organization explores the present day challenges children with disabilities can face, and how they are helping to break down the barriers for children with disabilities who can have the opportunity to thrive in an all-inclusive school environment.
