People visited the World’s Fair in St. Louis hoping to catch a glimpse of the “traditional” Indian. The Fort Shaw girls basketball team were part of displays featuring Native American girls demonstrating what they were learning in Federal boarding schools. These displays perpetuated stereotypes about Native American culture.
