Stewardship in the Schoolyard | Our Land

Students will explore their own watersheds in order to become better stewards of the lands and waters they rely upon. They will also learn how to slow water in their schoolyards or neighborhoods in order to help water infiltrate the ground and recharge local aquifers.

As part of an Our Land special, “Loving Our Changing Homelands,” students will learn from northern New Mexico’s Paula Garcia and the Pueblo of Acoma’s Aaron Lowden. Both speak of their deep connections to their local lands and waters, and they build upon ideas of stewardship and care for the land, waters, animals, and people who live in their communities.
