Texas Voting Rights | Hope in the Struggle

In Texas, officials used poll taxes, as well as other Jim Crow laws and intimidation tactics, to prevent Black men and women from voting. As a child, Josie Johnson accompanied her father knocking on doors to get petitions signed to eliminate the poll tax.
