Watch real-life caregiving in action. From helping with bathing and dressing to preparing meals, administering medications, and offering emotional support, a caretaker’s day is filled with demanding, hands-on responsibilities. Caretaking is not just a job but a full-time commitment that requires deep empathy, long hours, and a strong sense of duty, but it often goes unrecognized and unsupported by the healthcare system. 

In this activity, students will explain key features of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) related to caregiving and long-term care, and analyze how the ACA affects different groups (e.g., family caregivers, older adults, low-income individuals). They will then compare opposing congressional perspectives on the ACA and engage in a structured debate on the ACA’s effectiveness in supporting caregivers.
