The Constitution | Together We Can

The U.S. Constitution describes how our country works—from establishing the structure of the federal government and its relationship to the states, to granting protection of our rights. This video describes these roles of the Constitution, as well as the fact that Amendments were added to include the right to freedom for enslaved people and women’s right to vote.

Use this video to spark a conversation about the purpose of the Constitution and ways that it has both remained the same and changed over time as Amendments were added. Then invite children to brainstorm questions and continue the conversation using the printable activity page “We The People.”
