The Nisei Paradox: Justice on Trial | Idaho Experience

During World War II, 44 Japanese American men at Minidoka War Relocation Center resisted government conscription into the U.S. military, refusing to be drafted by a country that considered them less than full citizens. Nearly 80 years later, their story was turned into a play by a group of Idaho lawyers and titled The Nisei Paradox.

In this resource student will analyze the actions and motivations of the Nisei men who were on trial; understand the themes of loyalty, justice, and injustice; and evaluate and discuss the moral and ethical decisions involved in the choice to fight or resist.
