The Return of the Jaguars – Problem or Protector?

Determine whether the increase in jaguars on a secluded beach in Costa Rica is ultimately harming or helping the sea turtle population and what this relationship reveals about the balance of life in complex ecosystems. Students will examine three clips from PBS Nature’s Jaguar Beach, as evidence of how the resurgence of an apex predator is impacting the turtle population, the jaguar’s preferred prey, as they participate in the world’s largest synchronized animal nesting event. The results may be surprising.
