Tracking Sturgeon | The Fish Between the Falls

After juvenile sturgeon are raised within the confines of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho fish hatchery, they are marked with a tagging system that allows scientists to identify them should they ever be re-captured. Tagging and re-capturing fish allows scientists to make informed estimates of population numbers and mortality rates of wild and hatchery sturgeon.
