Visit a Kentucky Soybean Farm | Kentucky Farms Feed Me

Kentucky kid Kylie visits with Barry Alexander, a farmer who works for Cundiff Farms in Trigg County. She learns how soybeans are grown and the many products that are used. She also gets to ride in a combine during harvest. 

In this video, students will explore the following:  

• No-till farming helps keep the soil healthy, in part by preventing soil erosion. 
• A combine harvests the grain, which helps move it to storage, once the beans are dry enough. Any moisture more than 12.5% can cause mold or other damage to the beans.
• Soybeans are versatile and can be used to make many food and art products as well as a substitute for petroleum oil to fuel engines.
