Waiting in the Wind | Higgins Ridge

As the Higgins Ridge fire blazed on, the smokejumpers had to refer back to their training to survive the heat and smoke. The wind caused the Higgins Ridge fire to blaze bigger while knocking over weak trees. In this video, the smokejumpers describe how loud the wind was as they waited out the fire and hoped for help to arrive. They also describe their feelings of fear that they would not survive the fire.
