What are Pictographs? Pictograph Cave | Parks of Montana

Pictograph Caves are housed in a sandstone cliff that is the remnant of a seabed that existed here 80 million years ago. Look closely and you may see the remains of ancient sea creatures. Fossilized shells, crustaceans, and clam beds can be viewed along the sandstone cliffside! This park was named for the special rock art made by tribes that can be seen in Pictograph Cave.
