Watch Marcia Backstrom, DVM, veterinarian and senior clinician at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Ann Arbor, Michigan, describe her typical day as an emergency care doctor. She has two dogs and chose her career because it combined her love of animals with an interest in medicine. The most rewarding part of her job is not only helping her patients, but also experiencing the gratitude of the owners for taking such good care of their family members. She suggests volunteering at a local shelter, if girls would like experience caring for animals.
