California Task Force to Study Reparations | The Road to Reparations in California

Meet California’s historic nine-member reparations task force established after Governor Gavin Newsom signed Shirley Weber’s bill AB3121 in September 2020. The first statewide body to study reparations for Black Californians explores issues of affordable housing, healthcare, education, and much more. The members share their personal experiences with racism that propelled them into seeking racial justice. In June 2023, the task force presented recommendations to the state legislature for addressing the harms identified through their efforts.
