Movement 1: Of Gravity and Light | Iowa PBS Performances

“Movement 1: and the same face became tidally locked, forever pointed toward the Earth” is composed for alto voice, clarinet, cello and choir. This movement also features nontraditional sounds, such as the turning of book pages, match strikes, and the sound of breathing. The movement investigates the orbital characteristics between the Earth and the moon and is an opportunity to explore the emotional metaphor of seeing only one face of the moon, as well as the science that explains why this happens.
