The Detroit Literacy Project

Welcome!

We’re excited that you’ve agreed try a new video-based literacy program with your children in Kindergarten to 2nd Grade. You will be one of the first families to try this new series from Detroit PBS KIDS.

The program includes four (4) half-hour video episodes that build reading skills. You can watch these videos on your phone, tablet, or any device. You’ll also be invited to be part of three (3) virtual conversations with other parents to offer feedback on how it went.

Please watch episodes 401, 403, 405, and 407, using the appropriate workbook for your child. There is a QR code at the top of each lesson activity page in your book that will take you to the lesson. Have your child complete the activity sheet while watching the lesson. The even-numbered lessons, 402, 404, 406, 408 provide extra reinforcement for the skills taught in the odd-numbered lessons, and you may do them if you wish.

We recommend that you do no more than 3-4 lessons a week, so that your child has the opportunity to absorb what they have been taught.

Please join us for check-in meetings on Monday, May 9th at 6:00pm and Monday, May 23rd at 6:00pm to share your experience with the program. The zoom link for the meeting is:
